gavin newsome for governor
this is a bad idea
i don't think i disagree with all of his politics, but i do dislike his personna. and, i don't really want to see months and months of commercials akin to the ones that prop 8 used featuring newsome.
In my two years in SF, it seemed to me Newsom never did anything really bold, but played rather safe (given his constituency). Every move he made seemed tailored to advancing his political career. He just seems like a sleaze-bag.
He comes of pretty smarmy as well. I don't know anything about his leadership, other than the gay marriage stuff. I think he has an uphill battle just based on that, whether he tries to set himself up as fiscally responsible or not.
I fondly remember seeing Newsom in a debate with Matt Gonzales when he ran for mayor of SF back in 03-04 and i can tell you that that guy is a complete jerk.

I heard the exact thing from a broadcast this morning from KPFA/KFCF----some locals not really impressed with his leadership. Not that I'd know...
