work related grrrr

the stupid is overwhelming me today.

most days i can put up with the people i have to work with. really, i generally enjoy my job and the work that i do. but sometimes, it kills me to be here. today is one of those days.

(hmm, how to say this without going into too many details that could get me in trouble?)

i emailed a set of directions to a group of people. they are pretty simple directions that involve uploading a document (like attaching something to an email). so far, about 40% of them have been able to follow the directions without any problem. 10% have needed some help to follow the directions. 5% have needed a little more help than the previous group. 5% seem to be almost unable to use a computer, which is essential for these directions, and this baffles me. the other 40% have yet to upload anything so i don't know what's going on with them.

i just want to go home right now and pretend that everything is alright. sadly, the work day is not close to being done.

Ahh the stupid, sometimes it can overwhelm you. If it makes you feel better, I have had to keep my mouth shut while my mom bitches and bitches and bitches today. She listens to Rush Limbaugh everyday and out of nowhere this morning she goes "the world must be laughing at us". Knowing by the nasty tone in her voice that she is referring to something Rush has said I say nothing not wanting to get her started. Susan asks why and she goes "oh everything, you just have to say the O word" - obviously referring to Obama. So somehow my mom thinks that Obama is an embarassment to our country and the whole world is laughing at us. Cause they weren't laughing at us when George Bush was in office?? I don't even know what she is talking about! What really irritates me is that she gets to make these comments but I am not allowed to say anything back. Literally everytime we get into even the slightest disagreement she throws the "not in the office" thing at me and I can't comment. I have told her repeatidly how much this bothers me and she always agrees that she needs to stop but she doesnt so I now just ignore it. So you see the stupid is everywhere (and in my case, the stupid is in my genes, *sigh*) so I feel your pain and frustration.

A couple of weeks ago I had to physically leave the room while I watched one of my co-workers walk another co-worker through saving a document to a flash drive. It look litterally 20 minutes. The knowledgable co-worker was a saint and totally patient but I couldn't tolerate the lack of functional knowledge from the other co-worker.
