riverpark word assocation
let's do a little word association for my fresno based and fresno familiar readers. what's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word, "riverpark?"
please leave an honest answer of your first thought as a comment.
The first thing I thought about was the round-about that nobody knows how to use, and so rather than helping traffic flow, traffic stops because people stop instead of yield. Is that thing still there?
spread. not sprawl, although that's sort of implied. In fact I don't really think of it as sprawl so much because their have been neighborhoods in that area for years. In one sense it was actually infill, or at least connection.
Mainly I think about how much it seems to change each time I go, which is about once a year.
Yeah, Malisa, it's still there and I haven't seen any traffic problems there lately. People learned over time. That, and there is like 9 more entrances than there were when that was the main way in.
I asked because ch30 did their story re: tower improvements and the traffic circle idea, and their lead was "the tower district is getting a little piece of riverpark."
despite it being an annoying tagline, I just don't think of riverpark and think roundabout. eventually I might get there, but it's not my first thought. so I wondered what others thought of first.
I posted this here and famous, and roundabouts only came up the one time here. nothing wrong, I just wondered if it would
If there are additional entrances and such, I'm sure it is no longer frustrating. Granted I haven't been there in a couple of years, and if there are still so many changes like Justin mentioned, then I'm sure it isn't a defining characteristic as I remembered.
Yeah, totally Malisa. I remember when River Park was brand-spanking-new and the roundabout played prominently. That place is so big and packed now that maneuvering through there feels much safer than trying to drive through the parking lots around the now defunct Gottchalks.

Shopping.
Thats probably obvious and not helpful but it is what came to mind first.
center
but you should have seen the visuals in my head they were much more interesting
1) sprawl
2) shoulda been integrated into an existing neighborhood
3) another coffin nail
Traffic.
First I thought of the new River Park sign and how it reads backwards when traveling west on Nees. And then I thought of Krispy Kreme.
Frustrating.

So was there a point to this? I am curious to know why you asked.

Yeah I don't at all think roundabouts when I think of Riverpark. Roundabouts in no way define that area to me.

Wait, can I change my word association to 'poo'?
I guess I feel a touch bitter after that 1968 film last night at Milano about Fresno's progressive future.
