so, we went to see the movie sunday afternoon. now, i loved it. i eat that sort of film up. i kept thinking, man, i wnat to get this on dvd and watch it over and over and figure out all these different lines and aspects and subtlties of the film.
so, we get out to the car and i ask heather what she thought. "it was kinda boring."
and thus, the difference between us.

That's cool Ed, I thought it was pretty spectacular. The whole time I was doing the same thing. "No, wait, that could be construed in this group's favor." "Wait a second, whose should be touting this movie as a successful mascot for their ideology?" It was fun.
I wish I could have gone. On Monday one of my sophomore girls was telling me about it, and said sh really liked it. She thought it was confusing, but that it reminded her of Nazi Germany. Is there a connection there?
well, the story is about an oppressive regime, that basically has a policy of any dissenters disappear. and you have a violent vigilante (v) who is trying to wake up the populus and change the world.
the story was written about 20 years ago, as a graphic novel, so you could make connections to nazi germany, or orwell's big brother. the modern viewer will easily make a connection to the current political situation in the u.s.
I don't know just didn't get the hype. I check Ebert & Reoper and the both gave it two thumbs up.. Oh well not every movie can be as great as The Joy Luck Club or Four Weddings and a Funeral.
