you're an idiot

no, not you, this guy. sometimes, you see stories about parents that are real jerks at youth sporting events. heck, last week there was the assistant coach that was angered by a late hit, ran onto the field and knocked down the opposing player, which then started a brawl between parents of the two teams, while the coach jumped the fence and ran off (initial hearing). i know, that sounds terrible. but this guy is so much worse. 8 year olds playing t-ball? if you see any jail time i anticipate that you're not going to have a favorable experience. and i don't have very nice feelings for his attorney either.

Has this even gone to trial yet?

no, not yet. and i suppose that i should wait until the t-ball coach is found guilty, by the courts and not just the media.

He's gonna have a tough uphill battle if these allegations are false.

yes. it doesn't help when your lawyer says this "[Bowers] was terrible. ... It's not like he got blinded-sided," Shaffer said. "He put his glove up, he missed it and it went off his glove and hit him."

and really, i only think the first part of that statement is problematic. just say the latter part, it's enough of a defense. or say you didn't offer an 8 year old $25 to bean another kid with a ball (which i imagine they will in their actual defense).

based on the fact that he is alleged of joking about paying kids to hit an ump, as well as allegedly offering to pay an 8 year old to injure another, this guy is a jerk. really, we're talking about 8 and 9 year olds playing t-ball. freekin t-ball! he fits too nicely into the jerky, ultracompetitive coach personna for me to not call him an idiot.
