rockstar finale

bottom 2 at some point included magni, toby and lucas. it ended up being magni and toby. wha? the best two? people are silly with their votes.
magni performed "fire" by hendrix for his song.
toby performed "white wedding" by billy idol for his song.

both did well, and neither should be in the bottom. these are the freakin top two. the band said this one was a hard one. probably because they figured this was the final decision. and magni is the next to go. toby better win. this all happened in the first 15 min.

then the final three got to pitch their case, and perform one last time.

lucas did "bittersweet symphany". jay hated it last time he did this song. i didn't hear it that night. but i hate it tonight. warbly, sounds like he's trying to do a punk version of the song.

dilana did "zombie". imagine me singing this song at kareoke. and there you have it. now, i'm kareoke fool, and i think i sing well, but if you've heard the cranberries do this song you know i wouldn't do it justice. and neither did dilanna. she sounded like a small dog barking on the end "oh oh" part.

toby did "somebody told me". toby doesn't sound terribly different than the killers lead singer, so he sounded pretty good. and he knows how to involve the crowd. (i'm impartial right?)

toby voted out next. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo you idiots! worst move ever.

and after a commercial break, it's lucas. i thought he was an early favorite, but i thought his star dwindled over the competition. but at least dilanna didn't win. i don't know where this band will go, but i don't think it will be to the top.

I'm usually a fan of cover songs. It's a chance for an artist to show more of their personality, talent, and style by contrasting their version against an established (original) version of the song.

I didn't watch this show at all, but the half of the clip that I saw online of Lucas doing this song made me fearful of the future.

This guy won? Wow. That's awful.

Or maybe it's me. Maybe I'm just way way out of touch. There didn't seem to be any worthwhile personality, style, or talent in what I saw.

Did you like it? ... the performances, I mean. It's apparent that you enjoy the format of the show, but what did you think about the talent of the contestants? Were you impressed overall?

i was impressed with some of the contestants. in fact, early on, i thought lucas was talented. and, i still think he's talented, but i don't think he was the best.

there were others, like ryan star, who were very talented and will have careers. dilanna, who came in second, is talented, but i never felt she was right for this band.

i really saw their best options being with magni or toby. magni, if they want a more traditional hard rock sound. toby, if they want a more modern hard rock sound. and, in both of these i saw a person who could rock the crowd, really performed well. toby was especially good @ this.

so, overall, i liked it, but wasn't overly impressed. and, the band's reasoning of the final two and winner, "we're going with the fans" is b.s. so a bunch of nuts voted more for one guy. they like him. but was he best, and is he best for your band? and i would say no to both of those. but, that's just my opinion.
