interesting day

here's our new cable box:

here's what's currently showing on the box:

wha? i've had cable an hour and it's already out. so, i call comcast. talk to customer service. no outages. everythings plugged in correctly. so, they try a few things on their end. no luck. still no cable. we'll have to send someone out. how does tomorrow afternoon sound. terrible. i've had cable for an hour, and you're telling me that you can't fix it until 24 hours from now. i think we've started a short and unhappy relationship. oh, and thanks for screwing up the order. i ordered cable in 2 rooms, @ a certain rate. the installer comes, nope, i've got you @ this rate and one room. well, the rate turns out to be a slightly better deal, so i'll go with that. and you won't install interior wiring, so i can't have the other room. fine. i think after my 3 month deal is done, so may go cable.

but, i noticed outside that the property management has been around. they fixed @ leak on my neighbor's swamp cooler. that's good, it was probably going to eventually cause the collapse of their building, if it hasn't already done the damage.

and, interestingly, they installed this:

Why would you want tv in two rooms? Oh, your bedroom. For the record, I am SOOOO against that. TV in the bedroom is like declaring yourself boring.

But then, I haven't been married for years.

no, it's our little spare room between the living room and the kitchen.

i'm not a fan of tv in the boudoir either.

So, Jay is against a TV in the bedroom because it perhaps makes people think you're boring?

Ed, what's your reasoning behind it?

I'm curious.

i'm a big fan of the bedroom being for sleep and not too much else (wink wink). i've even seen a study that talked about how doing things like reading, watching tv and so on affects your sleep. something about your mind knowing/associating only sleep with that area, more productive sleep, etc.

i also figure i don't need a tv in every room of the house. if it's there, i'd watch it. if i want to watch tv, why not go sit on the couch?

Ok, I'll take that over the declaring yourself boring argument.

We haven't had cable through comcast, just internet service and the "antenna" where they give us a connection to get local stations clearly. However, I had a few bad experiences in a short period.

On the other point, we do have a t.v. in our bedroom, and it was something that I always said I wouldn't do, and Scott wanted. I guess he won. But I must admit, I love having the t.v. in there not for watching before bed, but for having on while I get ready in the morning. It is the only way I catch the morning news.

Anyhow, that is my input. :)

that's good input though. hadn't thought about news in the morning, although it's probably not something i'd do. heather likes the radio, but i'd go with nothing if it's still early. i like just hearing the life going on around. of course, if i don't get up until a little later, or am just getting ready a little later, i wanna crank the radio.
