monday - the return to regular blogging

it's monday, i'm back in town, and i'm ready for somethings. shoot, it's monday and i'm already looking forward to saturday. what's then?

tower beautification - this is a monthly chance to help give the old tower district a spit shine. i've missed the last few months, mainly because i've been out of town a lot. so, here's a chance for me to re-engage.

smog city roller girls - there next match is saturday evening @ valdez hall. they're playing prison city (chino). should be fun. tix available @ several places, including retro rag.

in the meantime, i also recommend checking out fresno state's baseball team @ the college world series. i'm not a fan of theirs (fsu in general) but it's always nice to see a local squad doing well. i know the first game is tonight.

what am i not looking forward to?

work. for the next five weeks i have an evening course (5:30-7:40). the time isn't the problem. i just don't want to go back. vacation was too nice. mostly.

saturday pupusdromo

now, that title can sound very odd to the uninitiated. heck, it sounds funny even if you know what pupusa are.

anyhow, i won't be hanging out friday night, as i've got to roll down to redlands, ca for a track meet. but, i'll be back friday night 1-ish or later, so i wanted to throw some saturday ideas out there now.

(i'm really bummed to not be in fresno friday. heather is joining steve and a few other friends to see a smiths tribute band at the club right near our house, audie's olympic tavern (formerly club fred). this band, is called sweet and tender hooligans, features a guy that is known as the mexican morissey. i've always been interested in seeing them/him.)

8-10 - tower beautification. yep, the monthly get together in the tower to pick up trash and give it a little spit shine. this month is normal, but next month we're doing it in conjunction w/earth day, and are a part of the city of fresno's earth day activities. so, this month you can practice your trash picking skills.

lunch time - i totally want to check out a new place called pupusodromo laurita, on the corner of broadway & divisidero. click over here and read how people are ranting on this place. and, you can see the menu.

late afternoon - go see this movie. i know some of you dislike adam carolla, but it still looks funnyish to me. and, i'm thinking if we can hit the cheap matinee we won't be out too much $ if it stinks.

evening/night?

pre-show jitters

so i'm starting to bubble with nervousness for my show with the philharmonic that is tomorrow. i've got my paintings picked out, and just need to print out my artist statement and prices. my wood working chum adam has made 15 easels for me. we're less than 24 hours to go time.

saturday morning, if it's not pouring down rain i'll be picking up trash in the tower district. it's our monthly gathering of people.

saturday afternoon, i'll probably take a nap. then it's showtime!

you must prove your love

okay, you don't actually have to prove that you love the tower district.

but, you could come help it out. especially because you know you'll be hanging out here over the next few weeks as you destress from all the family gatherings.

this saturday, december 22 is our monthly clean up get-together. we're out there from 8-10ish.

we meet @ the northeast corner of olive & wishon, in the chicken pie shop parking lot and then spread out to clean up the tower. give it a little spit shine.

trash grabbers
snazzy orange vest that proclaims your tower volunteer status

you must bring:
you
some gloves (we sometimes have latex ones, but any gloves will do)
a decent attitude

really, you should spare 2 hours of your life to help make our beautiful area even better looking. or, you can just pick up a few of the cigarette butts you've thrown down outside of the bar.

a challenge

so, i was thinking about those different venues that post goodness about fresno. i love to read them, and i try to take part in the online community. as i journeyed through virtual fresno today i thought, "these people are making virtual fresno good. i'd love for them to join me in making actual fresno good."

so i'm throwing down the virtual gauntet. i've brought out the slapping glove. however you want to think of it, i'm issuing a challenge to:
the beehive (specifically mike oz & heather mac)
the fresnan
famous whitewater

now, i know you all don't live in the tower. but you all visit here enough because you know we're the hotbed of fresno cool. so, i'm challenging you to join me @ this saturday's tower beautification. more details here. or here. or here.

saturday night's all right

what do you have planned for saturday? here are some suggestions:

get up early, say 7:45. come down to the corner of olive & wishon. join me from 8-9:30 making our neighborhood beautiful.

that's right, it's the fourth saturday of the month, and there's a little thing called tower beautification going on. provided for you: trash bags & grabbers, snazzy orange vest. you bring: well, you. together we make it better.

after that, go home and rest. maybe watch some tv or something. rest up, because saturday night offers some potential good times.
