ah, man, i missed this a few days back. my friend chris has returned to blogging. chris, along with his wife kelly, are the main parts behind the married gamers podcast. chris was one of the first people i knew blogging at regular intervals, and he introduced us to podcasting and helped us get going. anyway, he stopped blogging his personal blog several years ago. but he has returned with new content. i'm excited.
maybe blogging is making a comeback.

welcome joy
so, i moved some of my sidebar stuff around. basically, i took out the sports blog (see previous post) and moved adam up, since he's one of the so-called regular reads that actually posts. i also added our friend joy to the sidebar. she's new to blogging, but i had a good time reading her stuff today. it deals mainly with her experience doing a 60 day yoga challenge, which i think is pretty cool. i also hope she keeps blogging after the 60 days is over.

on blogging
7/27/05 was my first post. that's a long time to be blogging, although i do know that there have been bloggers out there that have been much more prolific in both content and history. that's cool. i have to admit, content has been a little sparse lately here. i just haven't had too much to talk about. and, i think i've been a little bit busy with work (teaching & track) as well as life and fun (pub quiz ftw!).
this blog has gone a lot of different directions over the last five years. some of it is personal, some of it has been fresno stuff, some is just randomness and more. and, it will continue to be all of those things.
anyway, just wanted to let you know i'm still out here. thinking, living, and yes, even still blogging a little.

readership decline
what the heck? i've been doing decently on my hits lately, but today i'm hitting the bottom of the barrel. barely any visitors. has the winter break taken a toll? is everyone on vacation and not looking @ blogs from work? seriously, what's going on?

i guess i'm sort of bakersfield famous
in other news, my blog post about seeing the homeland security bus got picked up by bakersfield.com, which it seems is a part of the bakersfield californian (their version o' the bee).
what's funny is that the comment thread spiraled out crazy about potential terrorist targets, repubs vs dems regarding terrorism, and other randomness.

back in business
yes sir. phone & internet restored. and, it looks like this week of grading isn't quite as heavy as last week. so, expect to see a little more from me blogwise than last week. and, i only had to miss an hour and a half of my schedule today. i also got the business card of the repairman, and he said if i had any problems to give him a call.
it seems that there was some squirrel had done a little chewing on the line, and then some water got in the line. so, pulled me a new line. bang!

warning, blogging could be a little slow this week. i'm adjusting to going back to work (2 morning classes, track in the afternoon). throw in a little lack of sleep, and the brain is a bit of mush.

1000th post
well, here it is, my 1000th post. wow, quite a few. i've been trying to think about what would be a good 1000th post.
let's give a little history. i owe this whole blog to justin. you see, he went abroad for a spell, and rather than mass emailing, he set up a blog. to leave comments, i needed to set up a blogger account. so, i figured i would give blogging a try. since then, i've taken to it like a fish to water. not only do i have this particular one, but i've also got my art one, and one over @ fresno famous. there is some duplication to them, but i've also got a lot to give.
here's my first post:

here are goals i'm establishing for myself on this blog:
1. post at least once a weak, but not multiple times a day.
2. show pics of my art, family, friends
3. complain about tv
4. interact with your comments
5. whatever else i want to do
in the words of the passe Kool Moe Dee,

well, i still haven't scratched out cash for my own website, and as of right now, i'm not too interested. i think i accomplish my blog goals, except for that first one. forget that nonsense. i'll give you as much as i want, as often as i can.
as i continue on, i hope to continue to improve as a writer, that my blog maintains your interest, and that i find new things to discuss. you may or may not have already noticed that my sidebar has been rearranged a little. i did that last night, mainly for me. you see, i often use my blog to navigate around the 'net, or at least some of my daily reads.
i'll continue to review restaurants, local shows, and talk about my art. and whatever else i feel like. so, thanks for being a part of the journey.

blog birthday
two years ago, and 700 posts ago, i started this blog. i first signed up with blogger because justin, who apparently spends most of his time on blog hiatus, had his blog set up to only accept comments from people with an account. so, i signed up, and started all this. my first post:

art update

umm, yeah, one can't have enough blogs can one? i've started a new blog that will just catalog my art, as well as tell where it can be seen. sadly, blogger is screwing with me today and didn't want to let me upload a photo yet. this is pretty bad as the blog will mainly be photos & description of my art. you can come visit, although it doesn't got much yet...
