you're a long way from home yuppie boy. i'll start a tab.
It is a reference to Schrodinger's Cat, a quantum physics paradox. A cat is in a box with a vial of poison. The trigger has to do with atomic decay. The whole point is that you can't know if the trigger has gone off and released the poison without opening the box. However if you open the box it will set off the trigger. It is supposed to illustrate the point that at some point you have to assume that the cat is both alive and dead. The only way to measure the outcome is to open the box, but opening the box determines the outcome and thus invalidates the experiment. Not sure it's something I would want as a present.
