target wants to build a store in northwest fresno. okay, that's not outstanding. but, they've already been turned down by the planning commission. and, the land they want to buy is zoned for homes and office buildings so to change the zoning would require changing the city's general plan. okay, that sort of change wouldn't be that unheard of, but still. neighbors are understandably divided on whether or not the store should go in. calhoun, the district councilman is against it, and feels it'll be turned down @ the city council meeting on tuesday.

i wonder if those who don't want the target at their intersection go to one of the many others in fresno. or do they prefer walmart? man, i love nimby.

I find it curious that there is no Target south of the one at Shields and Fresno. Why is that? I think it would be natural for them to put one in SE Fresno.
I support the idea of not moving a Target into NW Fresno. If they don't start thinking strategically about growth, fifteen years from now Riverpark will be empty!
ok, so that's not true, but you get the point. Big box stores will not think twice about shutting down an anchor store to follow the path of development.
I guess I'm under the impression that north Fresno needs another Target about as bad as they need another Starbucks.
There is a Target store already in NW Fresno at Shaw and Marks Ave. this new location is less than 2 miles from that location. If they are going to put another one in Fresno, what about Ashlan and 99 or North of that!! That is where the growth is going!!
