i wonder if this is the french reaping what they've sown? like, you have all these disenfranchised people living in poor conditions, often feeling scapegoated for the problems in society. eventually, they get tired of it all, have little or nothing to lose, and riot.
I think it is. It is also a reaction against anti-immegrant legislation, such as the ban on traditional muslim headwear for girls in school. The French government has shown that it does not respect the immigrant population, and tolerates them so long as they stay in their poor neighborhoods.
