signs of new life in the tower

i was coming home today and saw a few things that piqued my interest. i busted a u, and had to take a few photos.



laucks bakery closed a few months back. i wasn't sad. there has been some rumors floating about teh internets about how the building might be razed, along with some others near it. looks like those rumors aren't true, at least not for now:



a mexican bakery is now open. today was their grand opening. i didn't buy anything, but i did chat briefly with someone that works there and wished them the best of luck.

there was another interesting thing going on behind panaderia natalie's...work on the former drug fair. the exterior is being painted, and the lights were on inside. no idea what's going on there yet, but something is happening...

taking a stand for the little guy?

wow. i just read an amazing article about a businessman putting himself out of business to make a point. he didn't like the business practice of the multinational corp he worked for, and so he did something about it.

although this seem like a stupid idea, it's the sort of thing you can do when you've already made it.
