Of course, I think the politicians here are totally out of it as well. Same-sex marriage bans, flag burning amendments, please, why not deal with something slightly more serious?
I agree Adam. Our government is notorious for setting up a smokescreen issue to cover up things they don't want receiving too much media attention.
Eh, I was trying to think of something very specific, but I can't right now. I'll get back to it, unless somebody can beat me to it with a good example.
i would disagree, at least in part. although political parties do throw up "smoke screen" issues, i think we do have a stance on these issues like israel, iraq, etc. i may disagree with our stance, but we have one.
this is not to say that our gov't is doing it all right, or that rome is all wrong. in fact, i would say that rome/vatican gets it right more than wrong. the previous pope consistantly spoke out against wars.
and finally, to be fair, i don't know what rome's official stance on the israel situation is. i should have looked into that. perhaps the pope and other religious leaders there have condemned the violence in israel.
Well at least Muslims, Jews and Christians can all unite on serious issues of our day
ReplyDeleteYeah, Rome is totally out of it.
